February 6 (Mon) -- Heifer Development Workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clay County Regional Events Center on the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer. Cattle producers will learn about the cost of developing a heifer, estrus synchronization, heifer selection, sire selection, health protocols and using ultrasound to determine pregnancy and fetal gender. June 28 (Thurs) -- Iowa Swine Day at the Scheman Building on the Iowa State University campus in Ames from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This one-day program will focus on pork producer owner/operators, farm employees, contract finishers, field staff and allied industry personnel. Topics to be covered include preventing and managing pit foam, reducing feed costs, export market opportunites, animal welfare and personnel management.
